Program Pathway

This program map only provides one possible pathway for degree and/or certificate obtainment and is for reference only. Please schedule an appointment with a counselor (Link to Counseling Dept. Page) to develop your individualized Student Education Plan (Link to Counseling Dept. Page SEP definition). It is also important to discuss your transfer options with a counselor because each university will require specific courses.

The pathway below represents an efficient and effective course taking sequence for this program. Individual circumstances might require some changes to this pathway. It is always recommended that you meet with an academic counselor to develop a personalized educational plan.

The courses have been intentionally placed and should be prioritized in the order in which they appear. If you are unable to take all the courses in a semester, you should prioritize enrolling in the courses in the order below. Some courses have been noted as “Appropriate for Intersession” IN. Should you need (or want) to take classes in the summer and/or winter intersessions, the program recommends these courses as appropriate for the condensed schedule of the intersessions.

Some pathways combine a “Certificate of Achievement” and an “Associate Degree”. If you are pursuing only the Certificate of Achievement, you are only required to take the courses marked “Program Requirement” ?.

All pathways include at least one “Gateway Course” !which introduces you to the program and/or field of study and helps you decide if you want to continue with this Academic and Career Path.

Most Associate degrees (though not Associate Degrees for Transfer) require satisfying the SMC Global Citizenship requirement. If the Program Requirements do not include a “Global Citizenship course”, be sure to select a General Education course that also satisfies Global Citizenship.

This program is intended for those who are a current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). If you are not a current CRT, you can complete prerequisite requirements to apply to the Respiratory Care (AS) program at Crafton Hills College to become certified. Please schedule an appointment with a counselor to discuss the Respiratory Care (BS) Program requirements and application process in more detail.

Respiratory Care (BS) Application is available on Crafton's Respiratory Department website. Applications are accepted year-round (Fall and Spring). Please see a Counselor for application assistance.

Students can apply and enter the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care Program at Crafton Hills College at any time throughout the year. Step 1: Apply to Crafton Hills College at CCCApply Step 2: Complete a Crafton Hills College BS in Respiratory Care Application and submit the application. BS in Respiratory Care Application Step 3: Make an appointment with Rejoice Chavira or Brooke Clement in counseling to determine eligibility (see below). First, to be accepted into the program, applicants must provide Official Transcripts and meet with a counselor and complete the Counselor Verification Form which will be used to verify that the applicant has completed the following: 1. 30 or more general education units on the CSUGE or IGETC (Applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher). If you have CSUGE or IGETC certification, please bring a copy of the certification to your meeting with the counselor. 2. The "Golden 4" (as defined by the CSUGE) 3. Associate Degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited institution identified in the Crafton Hills College Catalog (official transcripts required) In addition, the applicant will also need to provide evidence of the following at their meeting with the counselor: 4.
