Operating Systems and Environments
Operating systems including Windows, Linux/Unix, Mac OS X in a business environment. A strong emphasis will be placed on computer components, operations, functions, and CLI commands. Systems manipulation will include disk management, system install and configuration, utilities, I/O control, customization, memory management, optimization, security and boot methodology. A light emphasis will be placed on operating system virtualization technologies, TCP/IP interaction and ports, automation, and legacy technologies.

CIS 130
Hardware and Information Technology Essentials
Hands-on class covering the fundamentals of computer hardware and software, security, networking, and the responsibilities of an IT professional. Students who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of a computer, assemble a computer system, install an operating system, troubleshoot using system tools and diagnostic software, connect to the Internet and share resources in a networked environment.

Introduction to Networks (Cisco CCNA 1)
First in a four-course sequence that qualifies students to take the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and the more advanced Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) examinations. Topics include: PC hardware/software review, Local Area and Wide Area Networks (LAN's and WAN's), network devices, the Open System Interconnect (OSI) model, media, cable installation, network design, routing,switching, addressing, security, documentation, and basic wireless. Meets latest CCNA certification requirements.

    Systems and Network Administration
    A study of server concepts, network services and technologies in a datacenter or private cloud environment that can be public cloud extensible. Focuses heavily on traditional server and network administration, directory and other network services, storage systems, datacenters, hardware, virtualization technologies, troubleshooting and disaster recovery. Introduces cloud concepts and virtualization. This course prepares students for the current version of CompTIA's Server+ certification exam.

    Focuses on cloud concepts, utilization, implementation, security and management of cloud technologies. Topics include virtualization, cloud computing resources, provisioning, data center hosting, and cloud applications. Includes cloud services for different type of organizations, Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Prepares for the CompTIA Cloud+ Exam.
